The season officially kicked off in New Jersey this week with the Dallas Cowboys knocking off the highly favored New York Giants. In hostile territory Tony Romo did not look phased completing 22 of 28 passes for 140 yards and 3 TD passes. Big contributors to Romo's outstanding performance were TE Jason Witten, 7 catches for 87 yards and a TD, and WR Miles Austin 4 receptions & 2 TDs... with all this firepower the Cowboys could win the east this year. On the ground Demarco Murray played like an all-pro getting 140 yards on 27 carries while scoring a TD, he also made his presence felt through the air catching 3 passes for 24 yards. CB Akwasi Osusu-Ansah picked off Eli Manning 2 times to give the ball back to the Boys' in enemy territory. Giants QB Eli Manning had a terrible debut going 13-29 with 2 TDs & 2 INTs, not what analysts were expecting from him this week.. Dallas held the Giants to a NFL record 1 yard rushing forcing Manning to carry the team. TE Travis Beckum was a great target despite the mistakes by the Giants catching 6 passes for 169 yards and a TD.On defense NYG's Antrelle Rolle, Michael Boley, & Jason Pierre-Paul combined for a nice 18 tackles. What really killed NYG was the time of possession the Giants had the ball for 6:08 while the Cowboys controlled the football for an astounding 21 minutes. If the Giants are to be a Superbowl Contender again they need to get past this ugly loss.
What we learned (Cowboys): this team is a deep sleeper and could make a run this year.
What we learned (Giants): they looked completely lost this week if they don't get a win next week, they'll be in trouble.
