Lions Sneak By Rams
Dynamic Lions Offense Does Just Enough To Beat Rams
Ford Field was sold out for this showdown between perennial playoff contenders. The Lions Colin Kaepernick replaced Matt Stafford nicely... completing 10-15 for 205 yards, 3 TDs & a nice 137.4 rating. RB Jamaal Charles ran the ball well (24 Carries, 115 Yards, TD), showing why the lions traded for him. TE Tony Scheffler bailed out his young QB on multiple plays grabbing 4 passes for 111 yards and 2 TDs. Sam Bradford had to make due with little to no depth at WR... he played like a veteran QB making little mistakes throwing for 220 yards and 4 TDs ending any rumors of a trade. Lions DE Cliff Avril made life tough for Bradford though... dropping him to the turf twice, CB Alphonso Smith stopped alot of big gains from happening getting 6 well earned tackles to preserve a Lions lead. Rams rookie WR Chris Givens stepped up when he was needed catching not 1, but 2 TD passes for St. Louis. RB Steven Jackson was a force on the ground pounding it for 106 yards. Rams LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (6 tackles) & Safety Quinton Mikell (4 tackles) tried their best to stop this high powered Detroit offense but it was all in vain as the Lions got the close win 28-31.
What we learned (Rams): Sam Bradford deserves a chance to lead the Rams after this performance.
What we learned (Lions): This offense is gonna be a headache for defensive coordinators all year.
