Luck Looks Like Manning, Forte Looks Like Payton In Bears Win
High Scoring Showdown Ends In Bears Win
Soldier Field was the setting for one of the best air vs ground showdowns we've ever seen. Rookie QB Andrew Luck went 20-40 for 586 yards and 7 TDs, incredible stats for a rookie... a record in fact. WR Reggie Wayne helped out Luck alot, catching 8 passes for 200 yards and 2 TDs. Jordan Shipley also has a good game catching 3 passes two of them for TDs. On the other side of the field, the Bears Jay Cutler played well.. (12-21, 195 yards, TD, 195 yards) but it was RB Matt Forte who looked like the 2nd coming of Walter Payton. Forte gained 279 yards and scoring 4 TDs, the best start ever for a Bears RB. Devin Hester made his presence felt too.. taking a reverse 58 yards for the TD. On defense it was a tale of two pass rushers.. Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers. Freeney had 3 tackles and a sack for the Colts while peppers had 2 sacks for the Bears. The Colts had 42 rush yards to the Bears 345... while the Bears has 187 pass yards to the Colts 557. overall these teams looked decent in their debuts.. i can't wait to see more.
What we learned (Colts): Luck has the chance to be better than Manning.
What we learned (Bears): This team is in good hands with Matt Forte.. he can and will be a star in this league.
